From Rainforest Medicine in Guatemala to Urban Gardens for Wellness in Medellin, Columbia: A Female Ethnobotanist's Journey @ Cultivate Urban Rainforest & Gallery | Evanston | Illinois | United States

Join us as ethnobotanist and Evanston native Joanna Michel, PhD takes us on a journey from studying Mayan medicine for women’s health in the tropical rain forests of Guatemala, to the role of urban gardens for wellness in Medellin Colombia, and Chicago. In the first of a series of presentations/workshops on Plants for Wellness, participants will learn about the role of gender in healthcare access, the effects of plants on estrogen and serotonin levels, and the role of gardens in restoring blight communities in urban areas.
